In my 40s, I earned up to $80,000 a month as a webcam model. In this business, you need to have a thick skin, but that’s why I love this field.
This essay “as it is said” is based on a conversation with a 40-year-old webcam model from Scottsdale, Arizona, that she left her corporate job to become a webcam model.
It all started when I was 42 years old. I’ve owned a real estate management company for 15 years, so I wasn’t looking for a career change—I was just having a little fun.
I lost a lot of weight, felt pretty good and wanted to show it, so I started an Instagram account. My husband has always supported me, and he basically said, “Come on, show the whole world how beautiful you are,” so I started posting sexy photos. Earlier, I posted a photo in a Malibu Strings bikini, and the brand posted it in its feed.
The next thing I realized was that I had grown from zero to
20,000 subscribers in 45 days.
As a result, I met a guy through Instagram, we got to talking, and he suggested that I do web modeling. He said that if I want to make a name for myself and earn money, then this is my way. I didn’t know at all what a webcam entailed, but he gave me a short and concise version of Reader’s Digest-a summary of what I needed to get started (laptop, lighting, reliable internet connection, camera, toys, etc.).
We also talked about what I would like to do on the Internet. The fact is that being a webcam model doesn’t always mean getting naked. We also talked about me, about being friendly and not giving trolls any time. All this aroused my interest, and my husband was open to my exploring this new path.
On October 4, 2016, I went live for the first time. The combination of excitement and nervousness on my face must have been priceless, but I was so well received that I was immediately attracted to it. Because of my age, I was suddenly considered a MILF, a term that I, as the mother of a 23-year-old guy, was familiar with, but did not understand.
Now it’s my full-time job. I’m at the top of my industry and making more money than I ever could have imagined.
I participate in Stream from Friday to Monday, starting at 8:30 a.m., and I don’t stop until I reach my minimum daily goal, which ranges from $1,000 to $1,800. About eight months ago, I decided to start my game and started spending Tuesday through Thursday creating content just for subscribers to post it on OnlyFans. I bring in five-digit amounts per month on each platform and get paid weekly via direct deposit. In my best month to date, I earned less than $80,000.
The pandemic has definitely caused a surge in the number of web models.
There used to be between 1,700 and 2,200 models online, but now that everyone is at home, it’s more like 3,000 models at any given time. There are an insane number of content creators right now, but since I was on the rise before all this started, I’m not particularly concerned about the influx. All right; I have just been nominated for the best MILF web Model at the XBiz 2020 Cam Awards ceremony, which will be held this month, and I recently received new 32G boobs and hired a publicist who will also help me do massive projects.
We live in Scottsdale, Arizona, and our guest room serves as my studio. There is a bed here, and as for the equipment, I have a laptop, a 4K webcam for better image quality, a large screen to which I connect it all, two large lamps to illuminate me, and a rack with clothes and a box of toys that I use on camera.
In fact, I can work from anywhere if there is an internet connection. Sometimes, if we are on vacation and I want to earn some money, I shoot a little or post on the Internet. Soon we’ll buy a boat, and I’ll be able to shoot from there too.
It’s a 365/24/7 job, but I take a lot of breaks during the day.
It is important to find a balance. I will lie by our pool, play with our French bulldog, play golf, do laundry and buy groceries.
I receive over 3,000 direct messages a day on Instagram and selectively reply to 50-100 messages a day. As I reach out to people all over the world, 30% of the messages I receive are written in a language I don’t know. The messages are overwhelmingly complimentary. I am very proud that all my subscribers are organic. I have never paid anyone for advertising or buying subscribers. I keep my own accounts and don’t use third-party apps.
My appearance, personality and age niche make up me and my brand, and most people respond very well to this. However, in this business you need to have a thick skin, because you can’t make everyone happy. Every day several people tell me that I am too old or to find a real job. I just turn them off and the platform allows me to block any abusive people from my room.
Cumming is perfect for me because I know how to please people. I have a lot more freedom than in corporate America, because now when I get out of bed, I’m already at work.
